Friday March 27th – Extra Curricular Update
Our First Year footballers defeated both Malahide CS and St. MacDaras in the last two weeks. With the withdrawal of Castleknock CC they have topped their group and qualified for the semi finals of the Tom Quinlan First Year Football Cup.
Our U/14 Hurlers have qualified for the quarter finals of the U/14 Dublin Colleges “A” competition. Two wins and two defeats followed by a walkover from St. Declan’s see the team enter the knock out stages which will be played after Easter.
Our Dublin and Leinster Minor “A” Badminton champions were unable to add the All Ireland title but acquitted themselves well in a tournament played in Gormanstown on Wednesday March 25th.
Our Senior Debaters reached the last 16 of the Concern Debates competition for the fifth year in a row but unlike in some of those years they did not progress.
Tuesday March 10th – U/18 B Leinster Hurling Final
Mountrath CS, Laois 2-17
Despite a stirring comeback in the second half Ris fell agonisingly short in today’s U/18 B Leinster Hurling final in Newbridge today. A goal behind at half time having played the better hurling seemed to bode well for Ardscoil but the concession of a second goal early in the second half left heads down. Trailing by elevn points with twenty minutes to go Ris launched a comeback and hit two goals inside a minute but while they eventually narrowed to gap to a goal they could not find the score that would bring the game to extra time.
Well done and hard luck to all the panel and to mentors Mr. Colgan and Mr. Mahony.
Saturday March 7th – Leinster Athletics
Ian McAweeny (1st Year) finished in 20th place in the Leinster Cross Country Athletics Championships in Clongowes Wood today.
Friday March 6th – U/14 Hurling
A second win in three days, this time against Castleknock CS, means that Ris have a chance, if they defeat St. Declan’s in their final game, to make the quarter finals of the Dublin Colleges U/14 “A” Hurling League. Final score today was 4-02 to 1-02.
Thursday March 5th – Minor Badminton Leinster Finals
Ardscoil added a first Leinster Minor Division 1 title to the Dublin title won last week. More later.
Wednesday March 4th – U14 Hurling
Ardscoil got their season back on track with a comprehensive victory against Salesian, Celbridge in Alfie Byrne Park today. With two games left Ris need to win both in order to keep the dream of a three in a row of wins in this competition alive.
